volunteers at Parkwood Farms Therapy Center and has been active in many
GTES events including the Atlanta Steeplechase, McKeever's First Ride,
and attending GTET horse shows. She currently serves as treasurer for
GTES. |

Debra Thompson of the Alumni Association has extended an invitation to all GTES members: " Your
group is invited to join the Automotive Design and Technology Affinity
Group at the Georgia Tech Auto Show on Saturday, March 31 starting at
11:00 a.m. at the Instructional Center Parking lot at 391 Ferst Drive.
Drop by the Alumni Association tent located next to the Instructional
Center (IC) Building. Go to www.gatechautoshow.com for more information. Don't miss this annual celebration of technology and design!"
In the past, members of GTES have used the show to raise funds to attend IHSA Nationals via a bake sale at the 'One Horespower' tent. Details coming as to whether or not GTES will have an organized presence at the show this year.

Congratulations to GTES members Kristy Stengard, Megan Heaphy, & Erika Larson who qualified for Western Regionals. Regionals will be held at Lander University in Greenwood, SC. Jenn Hocking, a GTET (student equestrian team) member also qualified.

The western facet of the Georgia Tech Equestrian Team (the student equestrian club at Georgia Tech) trains with Emily Tomlinson at Dream Chaser Farms in Oxford, GA. The Newton Citizen recently wrote an article on Emily Tomlinson chronicling her journey following her dreams. Congratulations Emily for this well-deserved recognition. GTET has 4 remaining western shows this season: 02.18.2012 two shows @ Judson College and 02.25-26.2012 shows @ Berry College. Several GTES members will be showing in the alumni division at these shows. These members also train with Emily. |

The Kentucky Derby is a horse-racing tradition and a must for equestrian enthusiasts. The GT Alumni Association is hosting a trip to the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby, May 3- 6, 2012. Visit the official trip website for additional information on the tour package. Packages start at $2,179. Itinerary:
MAY 03 – Arrive in Lexington, KY – Welcome Reception with special horse racing guest speaker. Includes food and beverage.
MAY 04 – Full breakfast/Horse Farm and Distillery tours
MAY 05 – Deluxe motorcoach transfers to the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs in Louisville
MAY 06 – Depart |

The 4th Annual McKeever's First Ride Atlanta
will be held April 21, 2012, at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. This event is an introduction to therapeutic
riding to engage individuals of all ages with physical challenges with the healing
spirit of the horse. This year's host sponsor is Children's Healthcare
of Atlanta. A variety of events will be offered including pony rides,
horse rides, carriage rides, arts & crafts, roping stations, grooming stations, massage therapy, and
more. Registration forms for volunteers and participants are available on the

The Georgia Tech Equestrian Team will be hosting the 13th Annual Benefit Show at Wills Park, Alpharetta, GA on February 18 & 19, 2012. Sponsorships are available. Sponsorship levels are detailed in the attached document. On-site vendor opportunities are available. The team is also accepting donations for the silent auction to be held at the show.
